North Lakeland Discovery Center- June 24, 2010

We were blessed with a beautiful day sandwiched between a bunch of rain. Discovery Center offers many venues for the artists to enjoy!!

A Perfect Day for Plein Air

We had a wonderful day and a great group of 12 artists...watercolors, sketchers, pastels, photographers and oils!! The old resort we had for subject matter was originally built in 1888 but most of the cabins are deserted now. Joanna Cardinal was a great hostess!

June 17 - Cottage at Cardinals

Just a reminder that we will meet at the Cottage at Cardinals on Thursday, June 17!

Joanne has asked that we not park in front of the Cottage as she hopes to save that area for customers. When you drive in the driveway, continue straight on the road....there is room to park and old cottages to paint.

You may want to pack a lunch as we aren't exactly near a restaurant. I've had some suggestions that it would be fun to gather together when we are done (around noon-12:30) to share our work and discuss our paintings / sketches. (To say critique' may be too strong or scarey but certainly, if you want, comments and criticism could be requested) At the very least, we can see what everyone has done!

Sounds like the weather may cooperate...remember your bug stuff and sun screen!!

Let the Summer begin!!

The 'Northwoods Outdoor Artists' kick of the 2010 season on June 2 at the Headwaters Restaurant and Tavern. 'Headwaters' is just two blocks north of downtown Boulder Junction on M on the "Hill" in front of the Manitowish river bridge. We'll begin to gather around 8:30 a.m. to take advantage of the great morning sun! After enjoying the artistic challenge, plan to stay for lunch!!
